In the Summer of 2023 international audiences experienced a theatrical phenomenon as Hollywood luminary Frank Castorf made his Epidaurus debut with the mesmerising rendition of “Medea”. This avant-garde artist and iconic director of Berlin’s ‘ Volksbühne’ delivered an electrifying fusion of anarchic acting, improvisation, and a bold directorial perspective. Collaborating with powerhouse Greek actors, including the brilliant Stefania Goulioti, this performance infused an international flair the lauded Epidaurus Festival.

This spellbinding production at the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus on July 20-21, 2023, was translated by Stratis Paschalis and Helene Varopoulou, whose rendition of “Medea” by Euripides and Heiner Muller boasted a stellar cast led by Nikolas Chanakoulas, Sofia Kokkali, and the incomparable Stefania Goulioti.
