The theatrical management company Tagaris Productions presents “Hamlet“, the iconic tragedy by William Shakespeare, directed by Dimitris Karantzas, starring Stefania Goulioti in the title role. The performance will be staged starting this December at the Veaki Theater.

In a fluid and slippery era, where the world is dangerously drifting away from Humanism, Shakespeare’s young thinker-philosopher prince consciously finds his voice anew in a female performer, the exceptional Stefania Goulioti. The distinguished artist meets one of the most influential directors of his generation, Dimitris Karantzas, in a new reading of this emblematic masterpiece. Together, they attempt a descent into issues of identity, existence, and resistance against authoritarian regimes and violence, re-proposing thought and contemplation as one of humanity’s last possible consolations.

Against the backdrop of a decaying society, Shakespeare composes a tragedy where action constantly clashes with thought, and the question of existence takes on universal dimensions. Hamlet remains to this day one of the most complex and fascinating figures in world dramaturgy. In a “Denmark that is rotting” — much like our world today — Hamlet must avenge his father’s death. In his journey, he will come face to face with a highly organized system of power that swallows thought and individuality, destroying every innocent cell of society. A long and agonizing journey of the self toward what we call truth, and a visit to the darkest truths of “being.

The Murder of Izabella Molnár

As part of the Epidaurus Festival, Stefania directed this original production, bringing Dimitris Hatzis’s short story The Murder of Izabella Molnár to the stage. Τhe ideas that gave rise to this original production were the need for Art in the life of the “well-ordered” spectator; their encounter with an irrational, chaotic world where every instinct finds its legitimacy; the relationship between the artist and their creation; and the very mystery of sculpture and its materials.
Sculpture is not merely the subject of the performance; it becomes the central protagonist on stage.
Here, clay is not merely a stage prop; it is a living body. The sculptures undergo continuous transformation, revealing the delicate—and often painful—relationship between the creator, the creation, and the observer.

Maestro Officially Filming Season 4

a New Chapter of the Global Hit

Maestro in Blue, the acclaimed drama series created by Christophoros Papakaliatis, has officially been renewed for Season 4, with production now underway. The new season will premiere exclusively on Netflix worldwide before airing on MEGA in Greece, reaffirming the series’ status as one of the country’s most successful international exports.

Filming has already begun on the island of Paxos, a signature location for the series, with additional shoots taking place in Athens. Season 4 will consist of six new episodes, continuing the story that has captivated audiences across the globe.

Creator, star, and showrunner Christophoros Papakaliatis returns to lead the new chapter, joined once again by celebrated actress Stefania Goulioti, whose performance has been integral to the emotional depth and critical acclaim of the series. Goulioti’s character will continue to play a pivotal role as the narrative expands and intensifies in what is widely anticipated to be the series’ final arc.

Oedipus Rex and Oedipus at Colonus by Sophocles in a single performance

After the sold-out performances at the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus, which received a standing ovation from more than 17,000 spectators, the sensational “Oedipus” by Yannis Houvardas will be staged at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus on September 9th and 13th by popular demand. It is a co-production of the Athens Epidaurus Festival and the ‘Lykofos’ Cultural Organization with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

Celebrating 50 years of continuous professional presence in the theater, director Yannis Houvardas translates and directs “Oedipus the Tyrant” and “Oedipus at Colonus” in a single performance, as one play.

Significant actors and performers, under the guidance of the experienced Greek director, with live music, will tell the shocking story of Oedipus starting from the end and going back to the beginning of evil. Oedipus and all his close relatives, arrive – as described in “Oedipus at Colonus” – at a place of mystery scattered with funerary monuments, to learn through divine revelation the sacred apocrypha that will give them the knowledge of why they lived such a tortured life. During this process, the characters revive – together with Oedipus himself – the key scenes from “Oedipus the Tyrant” and go through the processes of approaching the divine spirit as given in “At Colonus”, until the final elevation and ascension of Oedipus to the heavens.

The two works – very different in dramaturgical conception and style and written a long time apart – are throughout the performance, harmoniously conveying the sense of a single story, faithful to the spirit of our leading ancient tragic poet Sophocles.

Premiering at the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus on July 25th and 26th, 2025 as part of the Athens Epidaurus Festival, presented in collaboration with Lykofos Cultural Organisation.

Celebrating 50 years of theatrical mastery, acclaimed director Yannis Houvardas adapts and unifies “Oedipus Rex” and “Oedipus at Colonus” into one powerful, seamless narrative. Beginning at the end of Oedipus’s life and moving backwards through his tragic fate, the production features live music and a deeply immersive exploration of divine intervention and redemption.

The stellar cast includes acclaimed actors Stefania Goulioti, Konstantinos Bibis, Orestis Chalkias, Nikos Chatzopoulos, Karyofyllia Karabeti, Nikos Karathanos, and Penelope Tsilika, with a chorus led by Giannis Kotsifas and Ektoras Lygizos.
