Hippolytus, written by Euripides, was directed by Katerina Evangelatos and presented at the 53rd Hong Kong Art Festival. This was a highly prestigious invitation and an event of great significance for the extroversion of both contemporary Greek creation and the tradition of ancient drama. It marked the first time that a play in the Greek language was performed at this leading Asian cultural event, which has hosted prominent personalities of the international scene for over 50 years. More specifically, this play is a contemporary approach to the ancient tragedy that proposes a subversive directorial perspective, delving into the savage world of Euripides.
